TIP: If you are using a diagnostic tool/scanner, keep an eye on the DPF regen count every week or two. If it is not increasing carry out a static regen. The DPF is expensive to remove for cleaning as it is located between the engine and bulkhead and requires removal of the front subframe and steering rack.

Posted November 5, 2009. IIRC when I tried, it would hold the RPM up for three minutes while watching DPF pressure. If pressure was low, it would boot you out. If pressure was high, showing DPF restriction, it would do the regen for about 35 minutes. I tricked it with a hand held pump hooked to the DPF pressure sensor to activate the regen.

Forscan Service Procedures. I used to self service using the Diagnostic port trick, and depressing the pedals. But on the 2.2 it reset the oil dilution/service counter easily, the hardest part was the forced regen of the DPF. (Which took an hour to initiate) But alas, finally I had a clear DPF. I tried the pedal combination to reset the DPF reset.

It may take hours to complete the task once the regeneration procedure has been initiated. In some cases, the DPF must be removed from the vehicle and serviced using a specialized machine that completes the process and disposes of the soot particles appropriately. The DPF is considered regenerated when the soot particles are sufficiently removed. Halfway back the message turns into 'DPF Malfunction', so I presume this means the automatic regen failed. I call the local Mazda garage, who inspect it (well, probably plug in their code reader and charge £120 for the privilege) and tell me that the Throttle Body needs to be replaced and a manual regen tried, but this - after already leaving iwlR8M. 110 148 22 37 265 439 110 444 323
